War always means DESTRUCTION.
Many people living in extreme poverty live in unsafe structures if they are able to secure a structure at all. We provide sturdy and reliable building materials that can handle weather and natural disasters. Once again, we involved community members in the construction of these shelters in order to foster a sense of ownership and autonomy.
Rivaled only by the news of Ukrainian civilians under siege, unable to escape the burning cities that, only days ago were their lives and homes… are the fates of the millions of refugees who arrived at the eastern border of a foreign country, forever lost, with little hope and no place to go.
The trains are packed so tightly that those who came on last, ride for hours pressed against the doors, only to be spat out onto the platform when the doors open, by the tide of those first to board.
And now what?! The points of arrival are lacking basic medical resources. Diapers, medication, and even first-aid are not available. Hungry hordes of stinking humans in frantic search of food, water, a bathroom, and a place to sleep. A basement or a barn would be welcome. Basic needs not being met can turn a terrified mob ugly in short order.
Humanitarian help is pouring in, but mainly available at refugee camps. Thousands of people have gone days without a decent meal. Our quick response has been organizing easy access to tables with water and food for newcomers as they enter the stations. We’ve contacted dozens of trusted friends in Ukraine, Poland, and Romania who have volunteered to help. And as always, collecting donations is the only way to ensure that this operation happens!
Dear friends, please donate now — as little, or as much as you can. Even a humble amount goes a long way to help. Our currency has a very different value over there, especially in times of war. A $20 contribution can feed ten desperate people in Ukraine.
Thank you so much… as our work over there continues…
